Course Description

Each student will discover that retailing goes beyond simple sales; it explores the skills needed for success in real world sales careers. Students will learn that a successful retail store requires skills in merchandise selection, as well as buying and pricing expertise. In addition, the course offers insight to customer service and management of employees involved in various levels of operations. In each unit, students learn about specific aspects of the retail business. As students learn the various concepts involved, they develop a greater understanding of the skills needed to own and operate their own business. Students learn about the various types of business that could be part of their future. Strategies for success are explored, as well as problems and challenges. This is a beneficial course for future entrepreneurs.
